Before entering chiropractic college, students must complete a 4 year bachelors degree. Once a student is in chiropractic college, it can take an additional 4-5 years to complete the program. While in school, students must successfully complete a series of national board examinations that are necessary to receive licensure. In addition to classroom hours, students must complete several hundred hours of internship. During this time they treat patients suffering from true health aliments under professional supervision. By the time a Doctor of Chiropractic has graduated, he/ she has given over 500 adjustments.
Chiropractors work with the spine, not necessarily because it is the source of neck and back pain, but because it houses the central nervous system. This system monitors, controls and regulates all bodily functions.
Chiropractic doctors are highly trained in the diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue injuries and abnormalities common to the spine, extremities and the rest of the body. Rest assured that if you are suffering from back or neck problems, extremity problems or many other health related ailments, chiropractic can provide you with effective professional relief.
Most often, people go to chiropractors the first time for relief from back pain. But chiropractors treat a broad range of complaints, from back and neckpain to headaches, arthritis and more. Moreover, people don't need to have a specific complaint to benefit from a visit. Chiropractors also focus on on-going preventive and wellness care. Chiropractic care is effective for people of all ages, from infants to the elderly.
You may have heard the notion that once you go to a chiropractor you have to keep going back. Before we answer that question, ask yourself how many times have you visited a dentist? Like most people, you've been dozens of times since you were a child. Sometimes just for a check up in order to prevent new issues. Chiropractic is the same. We can help when there is pain but wouldn't it be nice if you could have prevented it in the first place? Pain is one of the last symptoms to appear when there is a vertebral subluxation. That means the problem probably existed before you felt the pain. Have you ever moved ever so slightly only to be overtaken by a sudden pain? The problem was there and that small movement was the last straw for your body so it finally sent a pain message.
Many people feel relief after the first adjustment. However, everyone is different and every problem is different. We at Brighi Chiropractic do not put you in a box and require a certain "magic" number of visits. Issues that have not existed as long will of course clear up more quickly than those that stem from years of misplacement.
We only want you to return because you will know how good you can truly feel and how well your body functions after receiving adjustments.
Just as you take your car in for regular maintenance, your body needs the same care to keep you going and in good health.
Yes!! Chiropractic care through pregnancy is not only safe, it is essential. It is easy for a Chiropractor to see postural changes through pregnancy-the center of gravity changes, weight of the baby place increased pressure on the spine and pelvis. Brighi Chiropractic center has a specially designed pillow for the pregnant patient to ensure comfort during adjustments.
We are asked all the time, "Why would my child need chiropractic if he/ she has no back pain?" Chiropractors treat children for many different reasons. Because adjustments allow the body to function properly, there are many issues people do not realize that chiropractic can help.
Children and babies are often treated for ear infections, colic, ADD/ ADHD and other immune issues, even bed wetting. When the central nervous system is working properly, our immune system can better function to fight infections and control other systems. This is true for children and adults.
As far as safety is concerned, consider this: An average fo 40 to 70 pounds of force is exerted on a newborn's neck and head during delivery. As much as 120 pounds of force can be exerted during an assisted delivery such as suction of forceps. ONLY A FEW OUNCES ARE USED TO GIVE AND ADJUSTMENT
Just think as a child grows all of the stress they endure from crawling to walking and running. All of the bumps and bruises they receive and all the growing they do. Once they are school age they are carrying heavy backpacks and playing sports. Adjustments through childhood can prevent many of the issues we see in adulthood.
